Impact resistant shingles!!!
Переглядів 41Місяць тому
We installed this Malarkey (family name) Roofing shingle 3 years ago and it survived a 1.25 inch hail storm. This is why we install an impact resistant shingle so you as a homeowner don’t have to replace your roof after every hail storm and you can save money on your homeowners insurance. Choose a roofing contractor that has your future in mind.

    GREAT JOB KEVIN I now know so much about gutters. I like Stan's idea how not to clog gutters. Ours was don't live near trees anymore.

    I was working a storm in Fort Collins Co and there was 3-4-inch hail, every roof had damage except the malarkey. Now I recommend it to everyone looking for an IR, all the other brand IRs were damaged.

    I've used the foam and went to the other styles and after multiple heavy rains all the other styles kept everything out of the gutter including the rain all the screens when you get heavy rain it goes right over the top I pulled them off and put the foam back in and the rain goes into the gutter now.

    This guy is misinformed. Insulated vinyl siding doesn’t air out down the outside so it can’t dry out as easily and the insulation in it doesn’t work

    I was educating myself on shingles via UA-cam as I'm getting my house reroofed, and stumbled across this video. I won't trust a single thing this guy says, he's just a sellout to whoever pays the most. Lookup reports of "Holmes Approved Homes" being demolished within a few years of construction.

    I wanted the bigger gutters on my house and the guy told me you don't want that ..I got stuck with the 5-in gutter. What about Raindrops?

    I have never protected our 5in K channel gutters on a concrete tile roof for 20 years here north of Seattle, and as a result I have to clean out all the short pine needles and cones from the nearby 100ft Douglas firs. I want to buy gutter protection, but can't find a system that is expected to perform well over the near term, 3-10 years. I was optimistic about MasterShield, but two contractors told me that regardless of the type of metal screen or mesh, the upper surface, the filter, will become clogged in a few years. One contractor sells their own mesh product, and the other recommends Alu-Rex Double Pro with 6in K gutters for my house. They said never come back to us if you buy a mesh product and it fails, because we told you so! One said that his national company removed 80 million feet of filter/mesh/screen filter protection systems across the US last year alone because of poor performance (clogging of the screens), and installed non-screen protection instead. It looks like the Double Pro would require cleaning from the top side (roof or ladder) because the filter system slopes toward the roof to collect the water, and there is a 14mm high edge at the top of the face of the gutter that will prevent debris from being blown off the filter surface. Any system that is flat or has such a shallow slope will just act as a shelf for debris. The contractor agreed that maintenance would be required, but suggested wiping the filter surface clean with an extension pole from the ground. I can’t believe that would work well, especially as the pile of debris is pushed down the length of the gutter toward the end cap. The other contractor recommends Gutter Helmet, but this is very similar looking to LeafGuard, which has a very poor performance rating because debris and even birds can enter the system under the bull nose, and heavy rain will just spill off the cover onto the ground given that surface tension is not sufficient to carry large volumes of water around the nose into the gutter, especially after the surface of the cover has collected dirt over 2-3 years and has changed the properties of the surface. So I am not confident any system would work well in the near or long term. What do you recommend?

    Gutter guards the biggest scam ever…exceeds duct cleaning.

  • @maverickwindowandguttercleaner
    @maverickwindowandguttercleaner 2 місяці тому

    I spend most of my time throwing them out. So much dirt still gets underneath the guards causing more damage and resulting in a much more expensive clean. Add it to the list of scams right alongside the Microsoft Technical Support con and the classic Nigerian Prince scam.

  • @davidcaldwell4953
    @davidcaldwell4953 3 місяці тому

    The simple solution. Save your money and dont use any gutter guards. You can get a telescopic pole for your hose and wash the gutters out . A lot cheaper . The installers of gutter guards are making things more complicated. And expensive.

    There are other siding options that could also be considered. Metal siding has come a long way from the standard pole barn or commercial steel siding. Companies like EDCO or Quality Edge offer traditional profiles like lap, board & batten, and shake metal siding with a simulated textured wood grain that looks very nice, is fire & moisture resistant, and virtually maintenance free. You could also check out composite PVC sidings that look great, are moisture & rot resistant, easier to work with than Hardie (which is quite brittle & easy to snap), and also mostly maintenance free. Everlast siding by Chelea Building Products is a very impressive product and one we're considering for our new build. Another would be Celect siding by Royal Building Products.

    MY .02 CENTS, , , ,No gutter guard is 100% effective with NO MAINTENANCE for the life of your home, ,so the secret is to find the one that requires the LEAST amount of maintenance. Homeowners should take three things into account when determining which gutter guard to choose. First is the yearly average amount of rain/snow in your area, (my area averages 20"+/year and no snow). Second is the number of tall trees and "type" of trees that will be an "issue" for the gutter guards, (I have large pine and maple). Third is your individual budget, (mine was a DIY project and was under $200). I selected the perforated aluminum panel and have not needed to touch them for a few years now, I'll check them after 5 years which is an acceptable length of time, IMHO. ADDITONALLLY, when you realize that every system will still need maintenance, prepare your system for easy cleaning. At each "run" of gutter, put a 6" panel at the high end, and a 6" panel over the downspout, , ,this way you can remove the small panels and snake a garden hose with "jet nozzle" into the gutter and flush out the entire run, or unclog the downspout. The small panels are so much easier to remove than the long 4 or 5 foot panels and cause less wear-and-tear on the shingles.

      It’s amazing thousands of videos and can’t find out what you need to. Even though the hardware guy I believe was truthful about his experience with the foam I do believe they tend to disintegrate but maybe he bought some much more expensive ones then the ones we usually see in stores. I also wonder how much water can go thru those things at a fast rate and how they hold up to snow sitting on them

      We have completely switched over to Malarkey going on 3 years now from Certainteed (mostly Landmark Pro’s) to date we have have zero issues with malarkey. I can’t say that about any other manufacturer in our 55 years. That being said, Certainteed would be number 2 and then no one else.

    That's the problem right there .It's alright having manufactures warranty. But if the installation is not as it should be it's means nothing and all warranties are void .
